Asking if anyone had solar panels on their roofs. If they survived and what are they powering now?

They aren't nearly as useful as a generator. Panels alone don't work in an outage. The system has to be be properly so that it is not tied to the grid and you will need battery backups, which are ridiculously expensive.
Coworker of mine has solar panels and Tesla storage batteries. She lost her utility power to her barn. She has run as long as 10 days uninterrupted
Off the grid before. In this event she has not lost any power from the solar/stg system.
She also told me that the solar panels were way more expensive than the batteries. The solar panels run the house all day and recharge the batteries T the same time.

I’ve heard that too. Just wanted to see if anyone invested in them and they are paying off right now.

Any chance you coukd ask her who she purchased them from? I am thinking about going off grid and am looking for where to get a system.

Is her barn air conditioned? Does it have a fridge?

I had a neighbor who designed his own system. He could be 100% off the grid if he wanted. He also had the best well water you'll taste, and an outside incinerator that would burn anything and move the heat through his house.
If he wanted he could have zero utity bills.
Imagine having that setup and having a crazy wife who convinced/insisted you to sell your place and "move to town". Yep....that's just what he did.
