Just a friendly post to fellow OTers in New Orleans.
NOFD, NOEMS & NOPD will cease operations around 50mph winds.
911 will be useless at that point.
Have what you need to help yourself.
As gay as it sounds we took an oath to stay to protect life and property. We’re sending our families away alone, with children, dogs, in-laws etc. So make sure you have everything you need for at least a week, maybe more, in event power is down.
Check on your elderly neighbors prior and post storm.
Goodluck to everyone. And as much as we get frustrated with the leadership of this city, crime, etc. we’re still New Orleans and we hold each other up.
We got this

I could lose power for 3 days any given week and I don’t leave. I’m ready for a few boring days.
Emergency services? When do those respond?
At least we have the pumps running, unlike the pop up thunderstorms

Honestly I trust Lopinto and company in JP way more than OP police to keep things in order.
If I lived in OP for this storm, I would evacuate bc of police protection after the storm and not really the storm itself.

Pretty sure they cease operations around 3 mph winds.

Yeah. What’s your point? I think worst case scenario for most in Nola metro (at least for those who don’t have a large tree near their property) is power loss for up to a week. That is manageable with a generator assuming their is adequate police protection.

Sure. Wanna come ride and make a couple medical calls every hour for 24 hours too? Might have to eat your dinner on the pump. Part of the job. But you’re always welcome.

Criminals thank you for this information.
Note to self: Strap on holster and have shotgun near at all times when winds approach 50 mph.

frick yeah! I'd probably hurt your numbers but I'm down.
Is drinking while on duty illegal or just frowned upon?

Last hurricane i was able to go chill at bars and restaurants in the afternoon while my area was out of power for a few days longer than a lot of the city.
Cant do that now with vaccine passports.

I would upvote but I don't want to mess up a 28-3.
