5 of 10 SEC teams in top 10.

4 of these are on our schedule this season. Show me another team that can match this schedule difficulty.

Who gives a rats arse about OOC when you can boast this fact?

Amen. USC gets to play OSU and a Pac-10 that can't beat anyone, and yet they're somehow worthy.

My P&G goggles have been removed. Auburn is about to get manhandled and drop to twenty-something after this Saturday. No one can deny they have some major issues facing them with their broken spread offense. What a disaster they are this season.

Yeah and Hatch is about to explode for over 3000 yards. A lot of teams are facing trouble but you can't deny the talent they have.

Sure, we've got out issues too. I just can't see Auburn outperforming us this weekend. Hatch will do enough to get by. I'm not expecting a hell of alot of running game if they stack the box like everyone's saying they will.

Look for special teams to make a couple of big plays.

Just poted this in the unbelievable thread...
quote:

Chill out guys. Whenever anyone starts harping on OOC, it means they are a USC / PAC-10 fan. The only thing that matters is strength of schedule. whether the teams you play are in or out of your conference doesn't mean diddly. But USC got burned on SOS a few years back so now they harp on OOC. because thats all they can harp on. It's marketing pure and simple.

quote:

You want to know the real reason we schedule cupcakes for most OOC games? It's not because we like to pad our stats (though thats fun). It's not because we need the warm-up games before the SEC schedule. It's because we get money! We need 7-8 home games a year. Fill up Tiger Stadium, sell lots of tickets, snacks, and advertising. We love that Saturday night in Death Vally! Now, SEC teams and most non-cupcake teams insist that you play in thier stadium too. fair is fair. The only way you can consistantly have >50% of your games at home is to pay some lower level teams to come in and be the Washington Generals to our Globetrotters. If USC or Ohio or any 'tough OOC opponent' was willing to play in Tiger Stadium for the same payoff that North Texas gets without insisting on a return home game, I am sure the athletic department would be happy to schedule them every year.

It's the truth.

Dear Pac 10 and Big 10/11,

Please bitch at us for weak OOC when you decide to remove your tampons and actually have a Conf. Champ. Game to decide the conference winner.

Sincerely,

Well when you think about in terms of 5 of the 10 are in the top 10 and undefeated right now because they have yet to play a single team worth a damn... then it's far less impressive.

In a real and pertinent assessment, you must throw out of the consideration any non-competitive games. It matters not whether team A plays a team ranked 70th out of 119 and team B plays a teams ranked 105 out of 119. An idiot would roll these averages into some strenghtn of schedule formulation. What matters most is the teams you play in the top half of the 119 teams, which is about #60, and you chunk any team outside that range completely out of the formulation. If you loose to such a team, then perhaps a subtractive element is approporiate, but it matters not whether team A rolls #70 more or less than team B rolls #105.

The other factor that is easily overlooked by the classical simpleton college football analyst is the rigor factor. If OSU or USC play 2 very challenging games over the course of a 8-10 week span, yet UGA or BAMA have to play 3-4 challenging games over a 5-7 week span, it makes sense that the wear-and-tear and injury factor is much more likely to catch up to BAMA and/or UGA than to OSU or USC. This factor is huge, as is the difference in week-in-and-week-out playing competitive games in 90-100K+ stadiums vs 60-70K+ stadiums.

Name teams still matter...you don't play the entire SEC, never have, probably never will. You play 3 tough teams just like everyone else who actually schedule tough OOC and a bunch of whose who?

LSU has spent the first three weeks in preseason football while other national title contenders have gone on the road and played name teams.

Stop complaining and just get with the program. Tired of all these excuses...no team that claims a national title should have such a schedule.

we would have won at Florida, Georgia, at Auburn, Alabama,at South Carolina, then the SECCG. That would make us deserving.

Notice the body language of the ESPN experts and the smirk they display. Playing their ace card to jack the fans.

Amen. USC gets to play OSU and a Pac-10 that cbeats the SEC more times than not this decade and yet somehow we call them weak.
