2017 GMC Sierra Transmission - Warranty Coverage
Posted on 8/23/21 at 6:42 pm

I have an Easy Care warranty. My transmission has gone out this week. The tech at the dealership advised there’s a chance Easy Care voids the warranty due to a 1-1/2”level kit and 33” tires.
Has anyone ever experienced this? If so, is it worth it to swap out tires and remove level kit to ensure warranty isn’t voided?

If its already in a service report you're already fricked.

It hasn’t officially been entered in the system at the dealership yet. I Just dropped it off before they closed but thinking about canceling first thing in the morning to go the alternate route.

How many miles do you have? Bringing my 2018 in to the dealership tomorrow for transmission issues, only has 45,000 miles on it and has developed the “Chevy shudder”. Not very happy about as the truck is stock everything.

My cousin owns a auto shop. The amount of work they get from guys with voided warranties due to lifts is astounding.

If there hasn't been a service report generated id at least put on factory size tires. Itd be hard to argue a level kit having anything to do with it but oversize tires are an easy denial if the warranty wants to pursue denial.

Prepare thy anus. Mine went out around that same mark on my 2017 Silverado. Prepare for a $5K quote if you’re dealing with Gerry Lane -and about a weeks worth of car rental (no loaners either).
frick Chevrolet and their shitty transmission.
ETA: everything was stock equipment on my truck. No mods whatsoever.

Do you have the 10 speed? If so, that trans has known (chronic) issues. You might have some recourse there. Good luck.

If it's the studder in first and second when not fully warmed up, forget it. They have a bulletin that it's normal. I brought mine in and that's what I got.

Occasional rough shift from 1st to 2nd, but recently developed the shake at speed. Almost feels like hitting the rumble strips on the side of the interstate.

I have a good friend who is on the exec board. I just shot him a text to see if true?
ETA, his response was "depends...are specs within factory guidelines"
He said for you to call direct and ask. they have a hotline for stuff like this
also said they allow for mods within a range.
sorry he is just firing off text. Also said to see if any other trim levels come from factory with 33's

I have a 2018 Sierra with 6.2l 8 speed automatic. I had the shutter at 40,000 miles, and they fixed it for free. There’s a TSB out on it. To fix it they just flush the tranny fluid and replace it with better stuff. No problems since (10k miles)
