Ghost of Tsushima expansion just unlocked

Gonna give the new content a go
From what I’ve heard the new content is roughly 3 hours main story 5 hours including side quest. There’s one new enemy type, not really any new combat mechanics, new exploration mechanics, and mini games. I can let anyone know if it’s worth the 20$ expansion price if anyone cares. There’s new display options and enemy toggle options as well as the ps5 controller updates which are cool.
If someone doesn’t wanna read the whole thread I’ve finished all the new content except for some new kind of puzzle shrines and it’s a
9/10 def recommend

I’ll pay $20 for more of that game. It’s right up there with Horizon for me as the best of PS4

I’m liking the expansion story so far. It unlocks at the beginning of act two but it makes the most sense to start it after finishing the main game. I’m playing it on new plus + on lethal + difficulty and I’ll say it provides a step up in difficulty from the main game. I obviously won’t post spoilers. The new display is sleek and clean and looks a lot better tbh.
The main story focuses mainly on Jin and his past specifically his father so if that interest you I can confidently predict you’ll find enjoyment here

Loading screens are for all intents and purposes no longer in existence, at least speaking for the ps5 version. Which is nice

I downloaded earlier. Can’t wait to get right in after work today. I’m in the middle of act two.

I would 100% recommend finishing at least act two first the armor you get at the end of it is super helpful. The enemy Ai in the expansion is way better, there’s more of them, the combat arenas are larger. Depending on what difficulty you are playing on though I suppose this is all relative

Has anyone upgraded from the PS4 version to the PS5 version? On the PlayStation store I see the $20 DLC, but how do you do the additional $10 PS5 upgrade?

I just bought a separate ps5 copy of the directors cut to try to support SP as best I can but it was my understanding it was on the store? I’m not sure. Either way you downloads your ps4 save from the cloud

Thanks for the info! I'm not seeing the separate PS5 upgrade in the store yet, but I feel like the store takes forever to update, so I'll check back this afternoon.

It might be actually in game. I’m not sure what all you get for that 10$. Probably just the controller stuff. Which is really cool I’m not gonna lie but it’s not totally suited to this type of game imo, you feel it the most on the bow and new things you can do with you grapple. Regardless, the expansion is dope. The new UI is awesome. The content is awesome. The cosmetics are so much better than the base game. It’s a disservice not to play this definitive version on new game plus with the charm that increases violence. If you do that playing on lethal+ be prepared to die. A lot. And know the enemies in the new area will sometimes switch from sword to shield to spear so you have to stay alert

Is there any chance this game ever comes to PC or is it forever locked on Sony consoles?

I’d imagine this game remains Sony only but I guess that depends if Sucker Punch retains any publishing rights which is unlikely. This will be one of Sony’s biggest Ips moving forward

Gotcha. Been trying to consolidate everything to my PC nowadays (although I do have a PS4), but it's looking like I will have to eventually get a PS5 for God of War Ragnarok, FF7R pt 2, and then eventually this (although I'm aware it's already on PS4).

I never played the ps4 version, but I've heard really good things so I just bought it for my ps5.
I'm having trouble starting the download from my PlayStation app even though my console is linked. I'm hoping I can start the download later so I can play some tonight.
My gf is going out of town this weekend, so I'll have plenty of time to dive deep in to it. I'm excited.

You’re lucky to play it the first time this way, even if new game plus does feel as if it’s the definitive way to play it at least imo. It’s one of the best games I’ve ever played and I’m not usually totally bought into games like this. I imagine it’s combat system will be copied and used for innovation for 5 years or so

I got dialogue indicating the main game was finished, but I’m not sure if that’s reliable as I was playing on new game plus almost done with act 2. If you attempt it on a regular new game without finishing the main quest line first I’m sure it would change, it was only a few lines. It feels right to do it last though even more so because it’s by far the most difficult.
Act 3 is pretty short anyways as far as the main quest at least so if you’re there or close I’d highly recommend doing it first
