I’m honestly having a very hard time coming to terms with the fact that this country would use these translators and promise them safety in return just to cast them by the wayside when they need our protection the most. It’s sickening.

So this is what I don't get....the WH announced at the end of June that they were going to offer all translators and their families residence in the US or, in cases where they couldn't immediately get a visa, a temporary station at a different middle Eastern country until they could get their visas in order. This was going to be somewhere around 20,000 refugees. No doubt a tall task.

But, knowing it's a tall task and knowing that, at the latest we'd be out by 9/11, I just don't get the late start. The first batch of 2,500 people, according to reports, arrived stateside beginning of August. Assuming there have been another couple of flights since then, you're still looking at half the people still being stuck there.

This should've all been started much earlier, perhaps even as far back as under Trump considering his timeline had full withdrawal set for May.

It's an incredibly sad situation. We have to hope that there will be continuing operations, even covert, being performed over the coming months to get as many of those people out as we can.

Everyone needs to get in the horn with their congressman ASAP about our fellow citizens and these translators and their families.

This is simply beyond the pale, and I agree with fellow posters that I feel ASHAMED to be an American today. This cannot be allowed to stand.
