S&C coaches don’t have cart blanche in any sport, they will design a program in line with what the head coach wants, and given how demanding Mainieri was in most other aspects I doubt it was an issue of buy in or commitment. My comments on the subject over the years hasn’t been about heights and weight of players, as we’ve had some bigger guys and even some explosive athletes like Mahtook, Deichman, and Crews. But in general we haven’t looked like a particularly strong or physical team.

I was reading an article today behind a paysite, so I won't link. It said that the 2022 and 2023 top players are mostly committed, half of 2024 and about 30 players for 2025.
The point of the article was that college coaches have to recruit freshmen in HS, which is not good for either party. Softball apparently had the same problem and so the instituted a rule that no coaching contact until junior year of HS.
As it pertains to LSU, Johnson won't have a big of influence on 2022 and 2023 as I would like. Many of those players were already signed with LSU before Johnson was hired.

In the players interviews from last week, Berry basically said he was surprised at how hard they worked in the weight room and how strong this team actually is. It’s pretty well known in the business that the strength coach and the trainer are 2 of the best in the country
