Are any travel baws or bawettes in the plan for the future?
Or is it a permanent solo/duo type plan?

my 2nd vote/recommendation would be McComb, MS. Home of the Dinner Bell.

Meh, they're about the same. BR probably has the edge.

I think this will depend upon your age and what you are looking for. Likely more employment opportunities in Baton Rouge because it is a larger metro area. Same could be said about dating - just more people in Baton Rouge. Lafayette is a nice city, good food, good music, nice people, lower crime than Baton Rouge.

I could see it being a bit harder to find a friend crowd in Lafayette if you are an outsider as a lot of people there are born and raised there. With that said, Lafayette has a lot friendly folks. Baton Rouge is a bit more of a regional melting pot because of LSU, so a lot of folks who may not be originally from Baton Rouge.

Both cities have pros and cons, and no stand out winner depending on your career aspirations. I am sure the rest of comments will be dominated by BR is a shite hole city and Lafayette is full of new Iberia haircuts or River Ranch money.

There’s a bawette in BR. Preference is to live in the same city, but she’s open to leaving BR
