FFXIV is ok solo, but definitely better with friends.
The main quest story is typical FF and can be a little boring at times, especially if you are really 'into it'

FFXIV is a perfect mmo for a single player. Try the free trail if it’s still going on. Early content can be a chore but FFXIV has been the best MMO out since it’s heavensward expansion.
