The NFL HOF RB, Floyd Little. Sat in the first row of the upper deck about the 40 yard line for the 1965 Sugar Bowl. The Tiger D shut him down. Forced a fumble in the end zone for a safety.
In the third quarter, LSU reserve quarterback Billy Ezell threw a 57-yard touchdown pass to Doug Moreau, and converted for two points on a pass play to tie the game at ten. With under four minutes remaining, Moreau kicked a 28-yard field goal to put LSU ahead, 13–10, which was the final score (Ezell was the MVP).
A great memory!

Great victory indeed!!! My favorite from that era is still the 1966 Cotton Bowl where we stopped the 22 game winning streak of Arky. They were so dominant then and once Brittenum left the game it completely took them out of what they knew best. There is no doubt that Arky was the better team, but the best team doesn’t always win. I think this game was one of the top 3 all time upsets in LSU history. Had we beaten USC in 1979, that would have topped it.

I remember that game in the 1965 Sugar Bowl. To me that remains one of the best LSU wins ever, as it was all about offense (Syracuse) and defense (LSU), and for one glorious afternoon in Tulane Stadium, the superlative Tiger defense prevailed. Syracuse had all of ONE meaningful offensive possession the entire game, and that was their first one which led to a field goal. LSU actually out-offensed Syracuse that day, and although I was always extremely critical of Billy Ezell, and frankly, he usually sucked, he actually had a brilliant Sugar Bowl and deserved the MVP!
