How would OU/TX affect LSU recruiting?

Obviously it would have the biggest impact on A&M recruiting, but what would it mean for LSU?
Curious to get some of the hardcore recruiting guys’ opinion on the potential additions and how it will impact LSU.

Recruiting in Texas is about to be the wild Wild West with Sooners in the Dallas area and Longhorns/Aggies fighting in the Houston area

Bigly. More bigly if it’s a down year in Louisiana.

Will be harder to pull kids from Texas. We can still get a few, but we’ll likely have to look in other states more. Luckily, we’re established in Georgia, Florida etc.

If we beat them consistently as well as the faggies, I can see it as a major advantage to be able to cherry pick who we want from Texas. On the other hand if they consistently beat us I can see us not only losing many Texas kids but them coming into Louisiana. Just take care of business

It seems like LSU has struggled the last couple of years in Texas and has gained a pipeline into Georgia and Florida. This would force LSU to become a little more creative in recruiting Texas. LSU could pull some kids from Virginia and other areas.

Hopefully enter the Midwest for OL recruits

LSU just does not have a pipeline there. LSU picks up an occasional recruit from Ohio and Michigan. Ocassionally

I suspect you are correct.
There have been many players who have stated they came to LSU because they wanted to play vs the "best", so SEC.
If that happens, they could stay in Texas or Oklahoma and still play in the SEC.

Life will go on and on.....technology has checked ALL regional-stagnation.
The school colors matter more in the minds of many recruits, and legacies are weakened by the second.....cela n’importe.....not a joke on school colors, that is the shallowness of it all. (Hint: Purple and Gold are good colors), like “knights of old” would have never predicted!!!

Most of the highly rated recruits want to play in the SEC. Because no other conference prepares student athletes better for the NFL other than the SEC.
Hence, it can only help Texas and OU's recruiting.

Maybe. Maybe not. If SEC football grows the TV market in Texas then from Dallas to San Antonio to Houston we will be hearing "It's Saturday night in Baton Rouge".
More Texas kids will grow up watching SEC football and that only helps LSU as a geographic neighbor.

If OU and TX comes in the SEC and gets their head beat in, then I see no issues with recruiting. If we win head to head, then recruits can see exactly how we measure up against OU/TX. A lot of the TX guys we get have Louisiana ties or aren’t marquee recruits.
But if TX ever got really good, they could stay really good and that would be scary. They’ve got money, prestige, and the conference now, they could build a powerhouse IMO.
I don’t know what to think about OU. Riley is a good coach but might could leave for the NFL. I don’t know what kind of money they’re working with in comparison to SEC schools.

Both OU and TX would be pitching... "hey come play in the SEC"

Does it matter? Didn't CEO say he was going to recruit nationwide after building a fence around Louisiana.

I don't think there is any way it would help LSU as an outsider looking in. Texas and OU historically are probably the top teams who recruit the state, with A&M 3rd I would think. Then you have a few schools who recently have been getting top guys for a little bit just because they are national powers. LSU has been doing it longer than those schools (like Bama and OSU for example) as they border Texas, but this would hurt every school not named Texas and OU IMO

This is just my opinion and I have no stats to back it up but I feel like it would have been a bigger deal in the Les Miles era as he more heavily relied on LA, TX, and FL to get the vast majority of his players.
O, on the other hand, doesn’t seem married to any particular area other than LA.
Basically I think if Les lost TX guys, he’s just sign lower rated LA guys to replace them while O will go find (or at least try) an equally rated guy in VA or GA or MD or CA or wherever and if he can’t find a suitable replacement, he’d find a transfer.

Maybe, but if Oklahoma loses its Big 12 bye, they can no longer make the pitch to recruits that they are in the playoffs every year.
