His defensive stats at Samford this year were...

Not awesome.

For most of the year there was another guy starting behind the plate for them and McManus was the DH.

The guess is we're going to grab another guy at least to get some competition going there. Milazzo can't hit and McManus can't defend, and Travinski can't play until late April at the earliest and Wyeth is almost assuredly going to be packed off to Utah Valley State or someplace. That would seem to leave room for another guy.

This. I can’t imagine JJ would find it to be ideal having to go this route with Milazzo and McManus. At least he could take a shot at the Meridian CC guy or someone else who plays well both ways.
