The city of Charlottesville, Va. followed up its removal of two controversial Confederate statues Saturday with the lightning-fast toppling of a third local landmark: a monumental tribute to explorers Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, and Sacagawea.

Do you actually believe what you just said? Removing inanimate objects does not change human nature. It does not fix structural or institutional problems. If you actually believe there is a nexus between destroying statues and a more "just" world, you have essentially provided the justification for the destruction of almost every piece of art or architecture in the world that was made prior to this century.
