Saw that Walker was named National Pitcher of Year by Perfect Game and know he”s committed to MS State. Does anyone think that new coaching staff might have any meaningful shot at turning him to the good guys? Wasn’t sure if there was some other connection with him and State. Also is he expected to get drafted early in MLB draft?

Why would state let him out of the LOI he signed?

Lack of identifying these pitching studs early is what did Paul in.

Is he a draft risk?

Also shitty pitcher name

Wasn't worth wasting effort. If he makes it to campus, it'll be a modern day miracle.

Hasn't he been committed there for years and signed a LOI? Not sure he even makes it to campus.

Unless he had committed to Vandy. Then it would just be another day.

I don’t think he’s that big of a draft risk. LSU probably has three pitchers in the class more highly rated.

Brody Drost from Barbe was the 2020 Louisiana Gatorade Playe of the Year. He is hitting .111 while striking out 1/3 of his at bats in summer ball.

Wow. He really struggled for LSU, especially at end of season. Hoping he can get it going

Might want to include he’s had a total of 18 at bats.

That wasn’t my point, it was that high school accolades don’t always translate to college baseball. My bad , though, in that he had the lofty average of .140 for his last 50 at bats in SEC, playoff and summer.

Comparing the Louisiana player of the year to the national player of the year doesn't make a whole lot of sense. We know that high school success doesn't always translate to the next level. That isn't going to stop MLB teams from drafting Walker very highly, unless he indicates he's just not going to sign.

I’d bet my left but he isn’t a top 3 round pick. Even if he begged teams to draft him there.

Walker is rated #493 by baseball America and didn't crack the Top 500 in Perfect Game. he should make it to campus.

He's a good player, but I believe scouts/recruiting sites say he has a limited ceiling in college and beyond.

You have this arse backwards. If he gets drafted early enough for it to be worth him going pro, it will be a modern day miracle.

I saw some MSU fans saying they project him as a middle reliever that is used a couple times every weekend series. I think I agree with that. He's a good player with good control, but not going to blow you away with his stuff.

But you never know how these kids will develop. He's also clutch and a gamer so he might turn out to be weekend starter.
