I posted on the home and garden board looking for advice and should've posted here 1st. Any recommendations for installers for a house under construction in Abita Springs?

You could do it yourself if you're building yourself. Pretty easy process after a Google search especially if they havent put the dry wall up yet.

Don't listen to CajunTiger, he doesn't know what he's talking about.
You definitely want someone to do this for you.

Going through this process myself. For residential construction, whats the advantage of Cat 5 vs 6? Price difference?

I may be calling you soon. I need to run a Cat 6 to my office across the house and the damn fire stops have me at an impasse

There are zero reasons to run CAT5 instead of CAT6. None.

Even money saved isn't worth it to put in 5e. I don't even have 5e in my storeroom if a customer asked for it. I can get it, but why?

It’s such a small difference in price. It’s not like he has to run plenum cable.
Where you been? Have t seen it have missed your posts.

The money difference is a factor for a lot of people. In a resi application will the difference in performance even come into play ?

I mean, clearly. You can get fiber to residential now, so might as well go bare minimum cat 5e at least. Still worth going with 6

Residential cat5e vs Cat6 cable cost difference is pennies/foot. Why skimp where actual cost difference is probably
$30-$50 TOTAL for an above average sized home?

I think the only pro-5e argument is smaller wire, and that should probably never be an argument
1) in any new install
2) anywhere coax is already run, as coax is thicker than cat6A. Of course, coax tends to “terminate” in an attic with no big central drop-down through the attic into a closet/living space, so there can be an argument for the number or size of the holes in your top plate, but I don’t think it’s a good argument.
Also, my in-laws are on the Northshore and have been after me to help them get a camera setup. The way the house is built, there are 4 separate attics, and there would be a moderate amount of cable needed to be run alongside the exterior of the house. Doing this in an aesthetically pleasing way for someone other than myself is JUST outside of my comfort zone (I can’t decide if conduit is worth using or not, there’s lots of “ducking/diving” under a carport to get to the front of the house, the house is raised with a crawl space is it better to go underneath, etc.) Does that sound like a job you’d usually do? Probably 6-8 drops, probably doing Unifi cameras (and I would talk him into swapping out his current TP-Link Omada to a UDMP. I could probably talk him into ordering it through you to make the job a little more worthwhile). I’ll shoot you an email with more specifics and my couple of ideas on how to do it if that’s even in the wheelhouse of a gig you’re interested in.

Do you buy your wire locally?
Cat 6 keystones are twice the price too. It starts to add up.
Does the performance difference even come into play in your average home ?

Probably not for your typical browser/streamer, but how many of those folks are getting their homes wired?
Wifi6 is already going around, I imagine it'll be pretty ubiquitous in ~5 years. Would cat5e be a bottleneck? How far do you think it would do multi-gig?
If I'm running enough cable for 5 cents per foot plus a dollar per drop to add up, I think I would go ahead and spring for it to avoid any potential performance troubleshooting headaches in a few years.

Pretty much all the wire I sell. Just curious the applications where 5e would be an issue.
I’ve also seen a push to run fiber to displays for 8K proofing.
