Which is more detrimental to the sport?

IMO it’s gonna be expanding the playoff that far and diluting the biggest games of the year into a match for seeding. NIL means I can play NCAA Football on Xbox again, but these next few years are going to be interesting as players are going to cash in every way possible while the powers that be look to find things they won’t allow moving forward.

Imagine how little LSU vs. Alabama in 2019 would've meant with a 12-team playoff.

Which game?

You don't think a second game in the CFP between them would mean very much?

Also, you don't think LSU getting a first round bye while bama had to play a first round game would have meant much?

We would’ve still been playing for a first round playoff bye, in pursuit of the greatest college football season of all time, and to finally beat those douchey, arrogant, cousin-fricking gumps.

I wouldn’t have enjoyed the game, the context, the atmosphere, or the win even a single iota less. And if having a 12 team playoff really would’ve completely devalued that game to you, then maybe college sports just aren’t really your thing. Because that will always be as good as it gets... 12 team playoff, 4 team playoff, or BCS championship alike.

I'm a fan of an FCS team first. South Dakota. I want to assure you that an expanded playoff will not diminish the regular season, in fact, it makes it better. Races for conference titles and the playoffs still make every game important and one soul crushing loss does not make the rest of the season irrelevant. Having a real playoff us actually better, you'll see.

I 100% agree!

The talent disparity in FCS is nowhere near the same in FBS, the schools don’t have anywhere near the traditions or rivalry, and they don’t have any conference championship pedigree.

3 loss teams have no reason to be playing for national titles. None. The more teams you invite, the less legitimate the title is. People claim they love the NCAA tournament because it’s so exciting to see a champion crowned, but no less than half the teams in that tournament have no business being there in a given year.

Anything more than 4 teams in the playoff is a an abomination on a game that has been bastardized by the leeches at ESPN.

So, if a team wins 3/4 games to win the NC, it will be less legitimate than all previous titles?

Really?

If USCe were to win a title in a 12-team playoff, I GUARANTEE that you will not consider it less legitimate.

What a crock of shite....

Honest question....why would you be against a format that gives USCe a better chance of winning a title (however big of a long shot that would be)?

Who gets screwed in a 12-team playoff? What is wrong with an 11-0 Clemson vs 9-2 USCe having playoff implications for BOTH teams? In a four team playoff, it would only be important for Clemson as far as the national championship in most years.

Regardless of what the naysayers think, a 12-team playoff will make MANY MORE games much more meaningful than they currently are. Yes, it might diminish a few games between top ranked teams a little bit (they will still be competing for a bye), but would be an easy tradeoff to make more games late in the season important.

The best teams will usually gravitate to the top, but the occasional upsets will be great (unless it's against your team).

NIL rules will have an exponentially more negative impact for ALL college sports than an expanded playoff.

i would argue that very few teams have "no business" in the NCAA tournament

first off, every automatic bid deserves it

that leaves the at-larges. only the worst of the bubble teams you can say this about
