The 2 button makes them look like practice jerseys. The no button 80s era jerseys look great if done right (usually with triple striping on the collar and sleeves) but 2 button always looks like a damn practice pullover.

They do usually wear their regular jerseys for the game and something like this for the derby or for practice, but this year, for some absurd reason, they are going to wear these hideous jerseys during the actual game.

ETA: The NL wore special uniforms that year, the AL didn't. That was the last time it has happened.

The best part is Reggie Jackson wearing a Mariners jersey for the 1979 AL team photo because his Yankees jersey didn't arrive in time.
A lot of instances of players using batting helmets from the wrong team.
And one time Pete Rose wore his batting practice jersey... before most teams even had batting practice jerseys.

Also, Samardzija was traded from the NL to the AL after being selected in 2014. He wasn't eligible to play in the game and was repping the NL even though he was currently in the AL, so he just wore his NL practice jersey for the roster announcements and such.
