The guy lives with his family. His StepDad is his closest advisor and trainer. His mom is his 'dietician'. They are VERY involved in his life and decision making process. They are overbearing, BUT you absolutely give two shits.
Hopefully Zion eventually grows up.
It was ridiculous when we learned last year that his mom was acting as his dietician and the team wanted him to get a real one. Somehow that was our fault.

He's not growing up in the next year or so. I think this is part of the reason the coaching search is being put more on the plate of Trajan and Swinn.

I think Zion is generally mature beyond his years, but it’s tough not to be influenced by family. I even understand the JJ stuff to an extent. That was his vet, his Duke vet, “the brotherhood”. It’s similar to if you have a friend/mentor in the workplace, the company lies to him, and then does him a bit dirty. You are generally going to feel a bit sympathetic for your mentor/friend and perhaps worry that they also aren’t being 100% truthful to you.
These guys are human beings. It’s hard to tell them how to feel about business decisions, even if those decisions make sense. It doesn’t help that JJ lit fire to the whole situation. Considering what he was willing to say publicly, imagine the type of shite he was saying about the franchise behind closed doors.
