i made sure to find the 2x4s in the soffit to get 2 of 3 screws in for each mount.

yeah, thoughts in my brain didn't make it to the post...but info you had on both posts seems totally accurate.
a terminated cable will passthrough the area in mount and into the camera compartment. ask me how i know, well i pulled cable through and terminated, then had to back it out to add the piece of scrap wood, then run it back through again. so should be just fine...lol
