Hearing about Eunice winning the Juco title I look up their program and I was impressed with their success. Jeff Willis has won 82 percent of his games and never finished a season ranked lower than 7th. Just curious, does anyone know why he’s stayed there 18 years?? Has he not been offered a better job or is he not interested in leaving? Just wondering why he’s stayed in JUCO all these years

He’s the Athletic Director at the school. I always wonder what he got paid. He is not D-I head coach material, but he’s done great things for LSUE and the Eunice community.

Wondered that too. He’s got multiple Nattys, multiple seasons with single digit losses, and has had over 50 of his former players make it to the pros. Why is he still at ‘E”?

Why not? Not arguing, just trying to figure it out. Does he not dress well, or is his personal hygiene bad? Or maybe he talks funny?

Yeah I feel like he wouldn’t be paid that much as AD though, we as many schools in our state alone like Nicholls, McNeese and so on you’d think he’d have at least moved up a level.

Based on what? Not on field results, curious what makes you say this. Because I know very little about him but his resume jumps out.

I won't claim to be an expert on this, but I gotta imagine coaching in the power 5 is miles away from coaching JUCO. I'd imagine it's kinda like how some coaches can be legendary CFB coaches and flop in tge NFL....it doesn't make one coach better than tge other...just means they cut out out different systems

If he's never tried it, how does one know? Something else going on here.

He’s an amazing coach at that level. I’d rather hire someone that we kinda know what we are getting. Should he get a chance at being a D1 coach? Definitely. At the greatest program in college baseball? Probably not.

Yeah it’s just strange that he’s never even gotten an opportunity to find out. Like a small in-state school or something. Maybe he doesn’t want to leave

Lol in no way was I saying he should be a candidate to replace Mainieri, just wierd he’s still in JUCO.

I'd imagine that's alot to do with it. Not everyone wants the bright lights and there's a lot to be said for stability. He'll be able to retire on his terms without question at LSUE...meanwhile if he made the jump it's win or pack up and move

My bad. I just figured that because every coach I see I figure it’s related to the LSU coaching search. He should def get a shot at a D1 school.
