Let's be honest, this is the only way we are ever getting into the playoffs as long as Saban is still at Bama.

And the outcome I predicted 20 years ago when people first started clamoring for a playoff is coming to full fruition.

Nothing will ever be enough. Someone will always be unhappy, and they'll keep adding on to give more crappy teams a shot that they don't deserve. This isn't basketball or baseball. You can't just keep piling on more games... But they will, anyway. And the regular season becomes more and more anticlimactic.

Yeah that's not how it works. Bowls will be eliminated because they are useless and nobody gives a shite

Love it for the sport. But my caveat is the first round and quarterfinals are home games for the higher ranked team.

The culture of college towns and the atmosphere of home games makes college football great. Distinct from the NFL
Imagine playoffs games in blizzards in the B10 or Texas coming into Tiger Stadium. Definitely beats a game in jerry world or hard rock stadium, imo.

Truly stupid. They can barely field a competitive 4-team playoff every few years.

Finally! Bet they didn't realize 3 teams would monopolize the four spots every year. With this, teams like Clemson and Oklahoma can't just coast through the schedules like they have. Also teams like Bama and Ohio St can go through a tougher gauntlet instead of the 1-2 times every 4 years LSU and Auburn are really competitive.

The best thing though is more teams getting a chance to make it to the big game. I'm ready for the chaos and the chance to play teams like Oregon, Penn St, Ohio St, or maybe USC.

ETA: I will say this though, I think 8 is better.

Watering down college football like they did with pro sports. Let's just give out participation trophies and be done with it.

I think teams past the top 4 are very rarely capable of winning it all. I do think, however, this would've benefitted LSU in the past.

I think 2001 and 2006 could've beaten anyone by season's end. Although, 2001 finished 13 in the BCS in the regular season, so likely would not have qualified, depending on new criteria.

This isn't basketball or baseball. The top teams will roll over the 9-12 seeds. Bama vs. Penn St? Yawn. Clemson vs. Pac 12 champ...boring.

This does help the SEC...a lot. SEC should have 4-5 teams in it per year.

This would be a huge mistake. It would get a bunch of currently discouraged fanbases engaged again for a few years; but by the time they realized they still had no chance challenging regular inter-conference games will have already become taboo as they threaten teams' pristine resumes.

With a bracket that big, no undefeated Power-5 conference champ is getting rejected, ever. So, why should they bother with quality schedules for the regular season? It will stop happening. The networks that are happy to bring us quality inter conference match ups during the regular season (that they know will attract viewers) won't be as excited to show us P5 teams steam rolling the Blind Sisters of the Poor PreFlight Academy. That means less football on TV over the long haul.

All for what? So that a bunch of borderline pretenders can exposed in January instead of September. How is this better?
