Basically the pitcher cannot throw to unoccupied base during a pickoff attempt. 1st baseman was crashing down to cover the bunt attempt.

It wasn’t because of that. It was because he picked up his foot to throw to 1st set his foot back down before he threw the ball. He also stumbled and opened up too much towards home plate on the move. Take your pick
