She's not apologizing to us, she's apologizing to her masters in Hollywood. She doesn't have any values other than she values her career as an actress and she did exactly what she needed to save that. She has nothing else.

beauty pageant was segregated until 1979
Before she was born, and yet, 20 years LATER, at age 19, she participated.
After it was NO LONGER segregated.
Screw her. Literally and every other way.

She doesn’t have to concern herself with pageants anymore.

I’m sorry I played Basketball in High School because I thought I was good.

The female Drew Brees. Used to like her.

So participating in a beauty pageant that stopped segregating is now racist?
Yes, just as the U.S. constantly gets blamed for allowing slavery but NEVER gets credit for ending it.

Veiled Prophet Ball's
I went to the Veiled Prophet Fair back in 1980. It is held on the riverfront over the July 4th weeknd. It was a Sat - Mon weekend and on Sunday night they had Bob Hope, Dionne Warwick, and the Beach Boys free on stage under the Gateway Arch. All I remember is drinking beer in the scorching heat all day long and into the wee hours of the night.
Next morning the St Louis Post Dispatch said the crowd was estimated at 1.5 million for the day... and I believe it. Biggest crowd I have ever seen and I have been to Mardi Gras many times.

The down side of the 1982 VP Fair is detailed above. The official theme of the fair was "The Heritage of St. Louis." Big-name entertainers crowded the stage during the three- day event, including Chuck Berry, Bob Hope, Dionne Warwick, Roy Clark, the Beach Boys, and Elton John, who was spirited onto the grounds disguised as a St. Louis police officer. The fair was attended by about three million people; 3,000,001 counting the baby born on the steps of the Old Cathedral. [4

Weird that they haven’t come for the Danforth family. Or the Busch family. Or the Schnucks. Or the Schlaflys.
