Saints at Redskins - Initial thoughts

Well, the Redskins looked like absolute crap on Thursday night. I hope I don't sound too optimistic, but I think our defense compares reasonably well with what the Giants do - we have some bookends in Smith and Grant who are solid v's the run and can bring some push on a pass rush. Ellis and Clancy did well enough on the ground, and on 3rd and Passing, McCray brings a little extra heat - enough to rattle one of the coolest and most experienced QB's in the league in Garcia. Portis is a great back, but our LB corps plays the run well. Shanle and Fujita pursue from sideline to sideline, and Vilma is Vilma.
So basically I really love our chances against Washington despite their long week to prepare. There's only so much you can fix in 10 days, and the Skins obviously hadn't even installed their 2-minute offense last week!
If we can avoid turnovers and play solid football like we did v's Tampa Bay, I don't see any way we can lose that game. Their midget receivers might be tricky to cover, but it looks like Porter and Gay had the speed to stick with the Bucs guys all day long.
I'm stoked! We haven't even talked about our offense yet and the fact that Colston wasn't really involved with many plays or Brees never really found that rythymn that we all like to see.
Bring on the Hogs.

Shut down Portis and make Campbell try and beat you with the pass; he seemed pretty lost in that first game.

i agree, jason campbel toasted us last time... i think SP will be very aware of that situation. if wee keep portis in check, keep turn over ratio even at least, we're good to go.

Campbell looks to be a "failure to launch" situation.

I'm hoping that we dont have a let down after an emotional home win. We should beat this team by 2 scores

Y'all will have to do a better job against the run. The Skins will definitely look to run the ball more than 20 freakin' times
Either way, after how the Skins played in their opener, I don't see how they can hang with you guys..... Strong game from Portis or not.

I'm still shaking my head over Campbell being selected as a first round draft pick and is starting for an NFL team....he hasn't failed exactly, but he hasn't really produced FIRST round stats. That being said, he needs to be put on his tail and sent into early retirement.

Do you know what Earnest Graham averaged per carry yesterday? And Portis > Graham
I still think we win. I thought the Saints D played very well in a bend but don't break kinda way yesterday. And I don't see us having much trouble scoring at will once the starters on O all get clicking on the same page. The O line and D line were both dominant yesterday.

Alejandro...you need to be all over the spread for this one. Saints are +2 as of today...are you kidding me?
and you didn't fare too well yesterday, eh? it might be time to load up on this one, dude...

will taylor(jason) being playing?
either way, i think we win.
if we can contain portis(not shut down) and get a fair amount of pressure on campbell we should win.

Campbell is going to have a field day against your secondary if he gets protection.

I had a good day yesterday. I had the Saints -3.5 and I also hit us up at halftime. I lost some on the Bolts and Colts laying turds.
Tonight I have the last step of a huge parlay and need the Raiders +3.
I agree that the Saints +1 or +2 looks fantastic. I am usually a contrarian better once the season gets under way and this is the most obvious "stupid public" pick of the week... maybe of the season. EVERYBODY will be on the Saints +2, so why did Vegas start that line at such a freaking ridiculous point? Every bell in my body's warning system is clanging loudly over this one.

yeah...the usual no-brainers are what gets a lot of people in trouble

Putting heat on Campbell and cutting our mistakes (penalties) will see us win. Both of those have to take place though.
