I always thought elementary was K-6, JHS 7-8, HS 9-12 (at least that is how it was when I was in school). When middle schools came along it was 6-8.

Anyway, Stand by Me and Lions get my votes.

Hook, maybe?

That is how it was here except K-3 was elementary and 4-6 was middle school, 7-8 jr. high and 9-12 high school. But now that I think about it, 7th grade was a real formative year because the 8th graders were cutting up, so naturally my class followed suit. Now that they moved the 6th graders to the jr. high I can't help but wonder if those kids are gonna be exposed to stuff a year too early.

As for movies, there are tons of decent movies for a kid to watch. With the exception of extreme vulgarity and adult themes, if I had a kid I'd want them to watch all sorts of classic films and all the really good new stuff so that they could potentially absorb the taste for great cinematography early.
