3 inch. Representative at Boss stated that for my rice blind, shooting small and medium size ducks, that the 50 extra pellets was better. Also, $30 less per case than 2&3/4 shells.

Please report on the 7's on teal.

#7 steel works on teal and doves if they are less than 30 yards. I much prefer #6 steel for both small birds.

Trialed a case of 2 3/4" Boss #5's last year with seemingly good results. (Seemed) to reduce my crippled birds, really like the pattern density of #5's.
Couple of observations of note:
Had a couple rounds that had bad crimps, and didn't exactly feel like Boss was wanting to do anything about those. My thought was that it's a boutique shell producer, you shouldn't let a bad crimp get out the door.
And second, I noticed a fair bit of fragmentation of the copper plated rounds in the breast cavity of ducks. I'd much prefer the pellets stay intact.

I had that, too with lots of loose bb’s in my case.
Did anyone else have a problem with BOSS shells not firing? I had a couple of the teal shot not fire during teal season, but I know a couple of people that they had lots of problems with them not firing. One with a 20 and one with a 12.

Wow first I'm hearing of that, and its of course unacceptable at that price point. I get that they turn out "a lot" of rounds, but nowhere near the mass production of the big names.

I have heard some people had experienced ftf with some. Most cases were light primer strikes from a gun with a weak hammer spring or dirty bolt. I will try a case and see how they work out. From advance prices I see on steel, the days of $10 to $12 steel shells are not likely soon. Rogers usually is hard to beat. Their website shows no inventory and prices are $5 to $7 more per box than last year.

A guy I know was on a guided duck hunt last year with his wife. Her Beretta 20 wouldn’t shoot the boss shells. He brought it right to a gunsmith who said the gun was fine. Shot 3 different brands through it, but wouldn’t fire the Boss.

Not doubting you. I bought a case to try. If they give problems, back to steel. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)
