Radiohead: OK Computer - A somewhat boring and safe pick given the depth of their catalog, but probably the best choice for those who want to experience every facet of their sound.

Pink Floyd: Meddle - DSOTM is arguably the greatest album ever recorded so that's one you'd want a new fan to work his way up to. Meddle is a solid album and, if you don't enjoy it, then Pink Floyd probably just isn't for you. If you do, then there is a lot of really good music left for you to experience.

My choice would be Wish You Were Here

Meddle is a great album and One of These Days and Echoes are perfect examples of what Floyd does best. I believe those two rival Wish You Were Here (Parts I - V & Parts VI - IX) in the long form/instrumental song type. However, the other songs on Wish You Were Here top the ones on Meddle.

I love those 4, but it’s hard to argue with Have A Cigar, Welcome to the Machine and Wish You Were Here.. Granted all three were classic radio staples but NONE of the shorter songs on Meddle were. I think WYWH would draw in a new listener and if they liked what they heard it might bridge them to a second Floyd album.
