Had a lot of work trips out there when I lived in Dallas. Nice people, really good mexican food. Downtown is nice for the most part. It would be pretty tough to live there. Desert heat and just doesnt seem like there is a whole lot to do there.

North Mesa near the UTEP campus actually has a nice collection of pretty cool bars and restaurants.

The Franklin mountains also have a bunch of really nice hiking trails if you're the outdoor type.

depends on what you like to do
there are three national parks within easy driving distance
you can go to Mexico safely and easily
Ft Morgan, Alpine, Marathon, Marfa great day or overnite trips
easy access to NM, AZ, CO

the Rio Grande Valley is a beautiful place
