Hopefully someone can help answer this question.

If I do an overnight fishing trip, ie leave Sunday and return Monday. Can I legally return on Monday with a 1 day limit of snapper?

(Not factoring this question towards Memorial Day. Just any random Sunday/Monday during the summer)

Typically no because snapper season is only open on the weekends with exception of memorial day

no you cannot. You would have to come home and offload fish

As long as it was 1 possession limit I don’t think you should have a problem as long as you aren’t tied up to a rig fishing for snapper on Monday (if season is closed).

That said, I am not a lawyer and do know that some agents will right you up for bullshite and make you sort it out in court.

Possession is the daily limit times 2 .
With that in mind you best make sure you do your best to document when you launched and when you caught the fish to be able to explain why your are in possession of more than a daily limit.
Just stating “ it was an overnighter” will probably result in the aggravation of trip to court trying to explain yourself.

overnighters do not joe blow in his own boat to keep two snapper limits even if the season is open both days.

Correct, and the way I read it OP was just talking about having 1 possession limit on his boat while the season is closed.

For example; he stops and fishes for Snapper on Sunday afternoon, overnights for Tuna and heads back in Monday when the season is “closed” with his 1 limit. I think he should be fine as long as he does not stop to fish for Snapper (or any reef fish just to be safe) on Monday when the season is closed.

Correct. The plan is to deep drop Sunday and troll Monday. There’s a 100% chance we limit on snapper Sunday. I just want to make sure we’re ok coming in with them Monday evening.

I personally would not chance it if coming in on Monday. You will get a ticket if you have snapper in your possession on a Monday. I would photo graph each fish with time stamp on it to really cover your azz incase green jeans is ticket hungry. Go load up on bliners instead 10 per person !
