I can get dirt for $100 per 14 cubic yards.
Where from? That’s a good price for right now. Best I usually find is $9-10/yd delivered.
In general, a house pad is just dirt and dozer time. Assuming no trees or other prep work needs to be done. Figure volume of pad + 10% for slope + 20% for compaction for amount of dirt needed. Then around $1000-1500/day for the dozer time.
ETA: For dirt volume, don’t forget they’ll have to muck at least 6” from the existing top soil. Hopefully there’s no water issues or vegetation as that just adds time and fill.
What kinda sucks is the dozer is going to work about 2x as fast as the trucks. So half the dozer time will be idle. If you have other work to do on the property, you can usually get a little of that done too (tree removal, clearing, etc).
Compaction should be done by a fully loaded truck, so that should also factor into the time. The compaction test should be done on each lift as well.

Great question and timing. Currently just finished clearing house pad area and awaiting engineering portion of my plans. Definitely following as well. Framing and wind engineering …don’t think I would need both but it’s pricey
