Dad did 22 years Active in the Navy. I learned to swim on the Corpus Christi base (as a kid, they had an awesome slide for their pool).

I remember asking him as a young kid one time if anyone he worked with couldn’t swim and he said “No, but there were a lot who couldn’t when they joined” I asked if they had swim lessons and he laughed out loud and said “No, no swim lessons Cotten. They taught them realllll QUICK!”
