Anyone been lately? I know it’s garbage but I want to f$& around on a range and get some bunker practice in this weekend. Is it better than it was around 6 months ago last time I played to still 100% goat crap?

That little chipping and bunker area wasn't that bad this past weekend. Range is very iffy per usual.. can't really beat $7 for a massive bucket of balls. Pretty lame how they kick everyone off the range one hour before sunset all the time.

Played there this morning. Course is in TERRIBLE condition. The groundskeepers should be ashamed of themselves. Also, by far the worse greens I have ever seen. Definitely not worth going.

I've played there twice over the past month just to practice hitting fairways and greens. I have avoided it for over a year but I was curious to see what it looked like. Course is in the absolute worse shape I've ever seen it and I've been playing there for about 20 years.

I talked to the old guy who runs the place a couple weeks ago about if they were actively trying to get it back in shape or if they were just going to let it go to shite. Long story short, he claims they are going to get it back in shape.

When COVID hit, the university only allowed them to keep 2 employees on staff to maintain course for 5 months. Neither of which were licensed applicators. Not being able to herbicide or fertilize a golf course for that long is a death wish.

Another thing to note, the university gives the course ZERO dollars per year. The only funding the course gets is from green fees and range balls.

Driving by, I've seen noticeable improvement on the greens. There is actually grass on them instead of plinko sand. They still suck, but they punched and dressed them about 5 weeks ago so they are slowly coming back. The fairways and rough can easily be salvaged with a lawnmower. They just need to cut the grass and let the poa annua die off. Bunkers have all been sprayed and re-sanded. Bunkers were the best part of the course. Other than that, they need to get a boom tractor out there to cut the ditches and do some dirt work to get the course dry enough to clean up the "wetland" areas and sinkholes.

$15 green fee is a plus right now. You can go play a practice round (don't even putt) on a Saturday morning in about 2.5 hours.

I sure hope they can get the course back in shape. It's always been a fun easy course. BR needs another decent public course to take pressure off SM, BC and Webb. Not to mention, LSU is missing a huge cash cow right now with the amount of people playing golf.

100% False

BR doesn't need another course. With the Island reopening LSU actually needs to close.

Golf in Louisiana will never be some cash cow. Even in LSU golf courses best days it still lost money and always will.
