First trip to Lake Bruin

Went there as a kid with my bud on their family summer vacation. Great fishing. All I remember is my buds older sister skiing in a bikini while her thunderous d-cups bounced around. My friend smashed his nuts trying to learn how to slalom and got lit up by a poisonous spider while sleeping. He spent 5 days with an ice pack on his nuts while looking like the elephant man from the spider bite so I just fished for largemouth with his dad. Nice lake though

Bream ought to be moving up around then and the State Park area is as good as any. Good luck

Like others, I have no fishing advice. No advise other than to enjoy the time with your family. We went there a lot on weekends, and camped there some too, when I was a kid. We caught brim from the bank and swam a lot. It was a fun place to go for kids.

I really appreciate my parents taking us there and lots of other places. Camping was an affordable way to travel, and we enjoyed it.

If you are honestly just fishing for bream running crickets is the best bet. I don't know of anyone using artificial to bream fish out there. If you are bringing the kids need to just find access to a boat and a tube. Best recreational lake in the area if you ask me.

I would throw some red worms with the crickets, you can do good on the little cats this time of year up shallow. Put out a trot line or two as well to extend your fish catching time. Used to do good in the mouth of that little bay just a touch south of the state park
