This is pretty common in homes from the 60s and early 70s due to the war and copper shortages.
Who has it? Do you care?

No I don’t have it in my house and no I really wouldn’t want it. I know they still use aluminum sub feeds and ranges are pulled in aluminum sometimes.

My in laws house has an addition that was wired with aluminum back from the 60/70s. Will say that they have had issues with outlets overheating and burning over time. Luckily not to the point that there has been an actual fire or anything.
Who knows if with the addition, proper outlets were used etc. But it's always made me a little wary of aluminum wiring with their issues.

It’s fairly common. There are CO/AL rated plugs and switches you can replace.

I have it. It was discovered in the inspection before we bought our house. Built in 1970. Had electricians come in and change every switch and outlet, tied the aluminium to copper using Alumiconn connectors. Ran me about 5 grand.

Pretty much every service feed will be aluminum and as far as internal wiring is concerned if the fixtures are rated for Al-Cu and the connections are made properly it's a non-issue. My house was built in the early 1950's and has some aluminum wiring that I've checked.

My house was built in 1969 and has been through 2 inspections and 3 appraisals. Not a big deal and I don't even think about it.

It can be hard to sell a house with aluminum wiring
