Lack of Electricity Should Not Be a Problem

The fact that a good portion of Baton Rouge does not have electricity should not be a problem by Saturday to delay the game. I was on the Miss. Gulf Coast right after Katrina and there was massive devastation, but they still got electricity to main areas by Friday after the storm hit on Monday. I am sure that they can restore electricity to Tiger Stadium and the major parts of campus that are necessary for the game.
Now, there might be other reasons to postpone the game that I don't know about, but it is amazing what they can do when they focus regarding the electrical grid. Those guys are amazing.

I think it's probably got more to do with cleanup than electricity.
Having that many people in/coming to BR would definitely slow down and progress they'd planned to get done that weekend.

No doubt, but I'm sure the BR city officials will be pressed to get power to homes before the stadium. Certainly more of a PR move. Obvioulsly the revenue rec'd by the city for a home LSU game is substantial, but not sure the city wants to be critisized for that.

Especially when they could easily reschedule the game for 11/15 and get the same (if not more) revenue.

Probably not. Along the Gulf Coast, homes with without electricity for weeks while the main business areas had it within days. Of course, this was important so that people could buy supplies and function, but business is more important than neighborhoods at this point. The PR nightmare is avoidable because you can just link sections of the grid that Tiger Stadium is on. If it is on the University grid, that involves homes (dorms, etc.) as well. I think it would be easy to have teams working on the university (and the stadium) while others are working on the rest of the city.

I'm pretty sure LSU has it's own power plant. Electric power is not the issue. Manpower on the other hand...

Electricity is not a problem, LSU has more than enough powerful generators to handle it.
Well at least they should if they take some buildings down. Dunno how much juice TS takes.

Most of the campus and the surrounding areas has power. Lack of electricity is not a problem.
Without the students on campus for the rest of the week, cleanup should not be a problem by Saturday. I see no reason why this game should not be played.

My parents had their power restored a few hours ago, by an electric crew from Hattiesburg, MS
(they live in rural St. Martin Parish)
I think 50% of Baton Rouge without power by the weekend is a worst case estimate.

Yes, generators.
Obviously that turbine engine that they use to feed half of the campus's energy under normal conditions can make a lion's share of usable power, but if for some reason they decide to go ahead with the game (bad move IMHO), I can't think of any reason off the top of my head why the numerous emergency generators dotting the campus can't help give that plant some breathing room.

My guess is they are doing everything possible to get this game in Saturday. If not why wouldn't they just go ahead and postpone it until Nov 15? I did see where Mcneese St. is going ahead with their game.

The same reason why they didn't cancel school for the rest of the week till about 3 hours ago, even though it was obvious it would be required yesterday when the winds hit 90 mph at times and stone shingles flew: once you cancel it, you can't uncancel it. There is a slim chance of getting everything in order to have the game.
So the game can very well go ahead. It is just that odds are against it.
Even with the entire day spent working on clearing the campus, it seems the most that can be said is that the roads are all clear, as well as many pedestrian walkways. And they didn't even pick it up then, they just pushed the stuff out of the way.
