Max will be backup. Nussmeier will redshirt. TJ is 3rd string or goes into transfer portal.

quote:

Brennan was the most efficient of the four signal-callers in the first half, going 11-of-15 passing for 106 yards and a 39-yard touchdown pass to Kayshon Boutte. He was poised, accurate and made few errors. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Brennan seemed like he could make all the throws after coming back from a season-ending abdominal muscle tear in 2020.

nothing like watching brennan stand in the pocket like the statue of liberty until he gets sacked.

at least max will get the hell out of there.

I would agree with this. I also think it’s easier to manage the QB room this way. I think Finley sees the writing on the wall and he’s gone regardless. If Max is named the starter Myles likely transfers out. You’re down to Max and Nuss. With Myles starting you have him, Max, and Nuss. Which is a really good QB room.

I think both will play this Fall but Max will be the ultimate #1 due to mobility...

Maybe so. But it could very well be Max. I hate the posters who watch the spring game and make a firm decision on who it should be. Their performances yesterday were both nice, and if you think one did better than the other it’s splitting hairs. The coaches see these guys 100x more than we do so let’s let them decide.

He still couldn’t deliver in the red zone, on the goal line, or on 3rd down.

With the new transfer rule and red shirt rule in place, there is no guarantee that a back up won't transfer or play the whole year.

I'm not sure how much more Max Johnson could have done in the 2 games he played. If he gets passed up, I would not assume he stays or plays the whole year.

I'll leave it at this...Brennan moves slower than my 72 year old, 100 pound over weight diabetic arthritic no cartilage in the knee Grandfather.

To be named starter Max had to show real separation between him and Brennan and he just didn’t do that. He will start one day but not this year.

Y'all have been saying this since before this kid even got to LSU, but somehow he managed to beat out Max last season when Brennan got injured and play surprisingly decent as a true freshman there were a bunch of people on this board stating he would never play a down at LSU at QB. Point is TJ has shown that he is still learning how to play the position. He has shown signs of promise mixed in with some missteps. That is all part of it. None of you know where these QBs will land when when the season starts. Some could use this Spring scrimmage as turning point in their development or others could regress. Nuss could come out as the starter this season not likely but point is it is possible.

Not to take anything away for Max, I was impressed with Brennan. He seemed more animated, like fire in his belly.

Gonna be hard to decide the starting QB. But my money is on Myles Brennan.

Doesn't matter who starts the 1st game. I hope whoever gets the nod continues to improve and lead us to TD's like 2019.
3rd down efficiency and ability to scramble will be key no matter how skilled a passer. Greatness was seen by all in 2019. Let's see it again! NO PRESSURE.....
