Is it weird to anyone else that they didn’t even feel the need to explain at all why she was there doing this INSTEAD OF THE PRESIDENT? I noticed a report came out later to suggest that he was somehow “under the weather” when the Japanese PM showed up to his door, but isn’t that a pretty important detail that they shouldn’t have just wanted to pretend away for this public appearance - I think the first of a foreign head of state to his White House?

It’s all so fricking through the looking glass at this point.
