I can't remember which one but either DR Horton or DSLD put drywall under their soffit for "fire-blocking purposes" according to them. What's interesting is they are still putting vented soffit and ridge vent not thinking that the drywall under the vented soffit is blocking airflow.

Also, even though they are using "water-resistant" drywall, every home I have had the pleasure of fixing after the hurricanes already have mold growth and wood rot from the drywall holding moisture.

I have scratched my head a few times over this but they apparently use it as a selling point.
