SVG's 4th Q Zion Rotations

I really can't stand how he plays Zion in the 4th.
He's been doing this all year, and last night something happened that i'm sure most of you didn't notice, but it's not the first or second time it's happened this year, it just didn't bite us in the arse last night like it has before b/c Cleveland sucks and we got a bit lucky with them missing a bunch of wide open 3's down the stretch last night.
Last night we saw Zion sitting at the scores table for 2 minutes. He went there with 6 minutes left. We had 3 timeouts at this time. You could see everyone on the court is getting gased. The opposing team doesn't want to call a timeout b/c they don't want Zion coming in, and our idiot coach won't call one either, so Zion just sits at the scorers table waiting to enter the game.
He entered the game after Naji was able to draw a foul, but then he couldn't come in b/c he was coming in for Naji. Luckily the ball went out of bounds after Naji missed the 2nd free throw so Zion could come in around the 4 minutes mark. It's sad that Naji missing a free throw and Adams tipping it out of bounds was about the best thing that could happen at that time.
I'd like to remind you of something i said earlier in this rant. We had 3 timeouts. If you didn't know, you cannot go into the last 3 minutes with 3 timeouts. If you have 3 timeouts, one of them disappears after the 3 minute mark, and if you're following along, yes, we lost that timeout b/c we didn't use it. Completely wasted timeout.
So instead of calling a timeout while James Johnson and Naji Marshall are the only guys putting up shots while Zion sits at the scorers table, we just kept it in our back pocket so we could throw it in the garbage a minute later.
Like i said, this isn't the first time this has happened, as i'm sure most of you have recognized Zion standing at the scorers table for 2-3 minutes waiting to get in the game around the 5 minute mark.
And to end on a positive note, Zion has been other worldly these last few games, and i really like what Naji has been bringing to the table these last few games.

I shite you not Teddy. Up until reading your post, the content on this board is so doom and gloom that I didn’t even look up the score last night. I was sure we’d lost. So I appreciate it bud and no I’m not being sarcastic. Made my morning a little better.

Not to be too positive.... but BI also hit a pretty clutch mid-range shot to put us up 5.

and then made a terrible turnover right after that to allow the Cavs to make it a 3 point game with 25 seconds left.
He redeemed himself with a very calm play coming out the 2nd timeout waiting for the Cavs to foul him and when they didn't finding Bledsoe down the court who found Zion for an easy dunk.

I would not be shocked at all to find out that Stan had no idea this rule existed

quote:Agree completely. His rotations in the 4th are the things that biddy basketball are made of. It is embarrassing and frustrating that our star player is on the sidelines in a close game because Stan does not know how to use timeouts or simply seems to think it is a good idea to sit Zion for at least a third of the 4th quarter.

Remember when we won and snowflakes find things to get angry about?

Can we at least try to find something to be positive about? Naji Marshall is an undrafted rookie that's showing he can be a role player, Zion had 38 points, Jaxson Hayes hit a half court shot. Am I the only posi-pel here!

You can't just see that we won and not look back at them game critically. Why do we have to be blindly happy just b/c we won?
The Cavs missed 4 wide arse open 3's in the last 3 minutes of the game, one of them after a timeout down 3 that would have tied the game. We won b/c an undrafted rookie took it upon himself to hit a huge 3 and get to the rim twice while Zion sat at the scorers table. Of course that was a very positive thing that happened last night, but should it have had to happen in order for us to win?
And on a side note, how many teams can say they have beaten these teams 7 of the top 8 teams in the league:
Bucks
Lakers
Clippers
Nuggets
Jazz
Suns
76ers
while also losing 9 times to these teams 7 of the bottom 10 teams:
OKC
Sac
Minny
Orlando
Houston
Chicago
Detroit
Hopefully we don't add Washington to that list this week.

quote:Naji played great yesterday. He reminded me a bit of Kenrich with his hustle. A little surprised he was not on the court late given his defense yesterday, but I guess Bledsoe was on as a secondary ball handler.

Zion played the entire 4th tonight.
And we once again lost a timeout at the 3 minute mark, on the 2nd night of a back to back where we were absolutely putrid in the second half. Would have been two timeouts lost but we used one at the 4 minute mark after Adam’s kept getting fouled off ball. Had that not been happening we wouldn’t have called a timeout I’d bet.
