WDSU6: Delgado puts 2 employees on leave after possible student privacy violation
quote:

Delgado Community College has placed two employees on paid leave and is conducting an investigation into a possible student privacy violation. The school won't identify the employees or say why they were put on leave.

Its action came Wednesday after WDSU Investigates provided an audio recording that practical nursing student Mark Winchester made during an online class in mid-March. In the recording, the class instructor can be heard talking to the program coordinator over the phone during what Winchester said was a class lunch break. Other students in the class could also hear the conversation.

The instructor and program coordinator then discuss what could be done to dismiss Winchester from the program.

"In this situation, we want him out of here," the program coordinator is heard saying.

She then asks the instructor about which faculty member is assigned to oversee Winchester when he starts his clinical training at a nursing home. The instructor responds that she supervises Winchester, which the program coordinator says is good.

"Because if he makes it to the nursing home and does something unsafe ... then that would be our grounds to dismiss him," the program coordinator tells the instructor.

The coordinator later reminds the instructor that their discussion should be kept confidential.

"Oh, I'm not going to repeat it. You don't have to worry about that," the instructor replies.

Winchester remains enrolled in the nursing program and said he is intent on completing it. He lives off Social Security Disability Insurance following a near-fatal auto accident in 1988. His brain injury still affects his speech slightly, but he can otherwise function with no limitations.

Edt: Sorry I forgot Nymeria!

Gee, it almost seems like he's being discriminated against for some unknown reason. I wonder why?

Having graduated from Charity in 2002, you could tell the students that should never ever be a nurse.

The obvious ones always cut corners during clinicals with actual patients. And if you half-arse that, you're probably half-assing your studies, so the stiff testing usually weeded out the obvious dipshits.

While I could say a lot about the estrogen-centric leadership of the all-female administration/staff, they were pretty good about identifying & challenging the weaker students to either shape up or ship out.

Winchester said before he started his recording the two were discussing his criminal background. His record includes a conviction for violating a protective order and an arrest for cyberstalking, a charge declined by prosecutors. He has served the required penalty for his violation and had to undergo a background check in order to enroll at Delgado.

"They know every single criminal infraction that I have made the mistake of doing for the past 10 years," Winchester said.

The instructor and program coordinator then discuss what could be done to dismiss Winchester from the program.
