If they were too stupid or ignorant to realize the consequences they should never hold a job of any merit either.

I think this more speaks to you being an awful person that no one wants to be associated with. I’ve got like 6 people that are in the discussion of being my best friend. It’s warm, we treat each other with respect, and non-stop ballbusting. They know if things go completely to hell that I’ll be the first person at their doorstep to help them and vice versa. I’ve needed their help like this in the past and they’ve needed my help like this in the past, and I’m there as soon as possible. Sorry you don’t have an actual true friendship.

I'm not implying this is not true, but gonna be a hard sell. I don't often see unmarked spray bottles of water and spray bottles of bleach just sitting around. I realize that's about the only defense the accused can muster, but it is a hard sell.

I mean, janitors in fraternities may just use the same bottle a lot that is refilled showing nothing. That being said, it still requires the accused of being absolutely retarded and I hardly buy it.

So you and others around him sat on this for over half a year instead of immediately raising hell on everyone even tangentially involved in retribution on his behalf? Because that’s what’s actual bros would do in that situation.

As is the case with all crimes, the more time passes without full steam ahead inquiry by every investigative resource you can leverage, the less likely those responsible will be properly held accountable.

Best friends? It’s more likely you’re one of the culprits. You’ve clearly raised more noise in the last day on an LSU message board than the prior 6+ months in Oxford/elsewhere. That’s disgraceful.

frick right off.

This is a good point. I mean, I can’t imagine watching this happening to my single best friend, not resigning from the fraternity in disgust, and not going to the cops. If he was childhood friends with him and not part of the fraternity that makes it even worse. Maybe if someone threatened my life if I ratted, but I’d like to think I’d still do it. At best you had your life threatened and pussed, so either way frick the OP. You’re a terrible friend unless you found out about it yesterday, but still if he’s you’re best friend you should have talked within in the past 6 months. Go frick yourself, as should the victim’s parents if this is true.

This is my take. While it's terrible this happened, people who willingly partake in hazing are accomplices at some level of their own making.

Listen, back in my day hazing was simply drinking games and embarrassing people. Even spraying someone in the face with a water bottle would have gotten an active thrown out of the house and in trouble. Sorry, this is 15 years after my time. No excuses for hazing like this.

I mean, no shite. If one of my best friends is in crisis mode, then I’m on the plane immediately. I was in a suicidal crisis like 5 years ago and you know what they did? Hardcore intervention. Now I’m fine thanks to them. You admitting that means you don’t have actual friends who are there for you in the good times and bad.

He was pretending that only women have levels of friendships.

That men don’t have different levels - buddies they drink with, but buddies they only fish with, buddies they let tag along even if they don’t really like them, but don’t take along when they tailgate out of town

And I’m happy to be there in your time of need if needed.

What I don’t understand is the OP, the victims pledge brothers, and quite frankly the actives not going to the cops over this. I’m just imagining looking down at one of my friends struggling to breath after having bleach shoved down his throat and not going to the cops. I’m pretty confident you’d do that for me and I’d do that for you even if we don’t know each other on an in person level. Doing that to one of my best friends? Sorry his quote unquote “best friend” has some answering to do on that if this happened and he knew about it.

If a police report has been filed and it’s as bad as the OP (who again has blood on his hands if he knew about this for months) and the report yesterday suggest, then indeed they have blood on their hands and multiple heads should roll.

We helped ReauxlTide’s girl win an iPad back in the day. I have nothing else of substance to add to this thread.

I’m still taken aback by this dumb quote. Let’s say your wife or child dies, is your response to say “Ehhh, suck it up.” No, as a friend your duty is to help them absorb it, take on enough burden of it yourself to make it manageable for them (otherwise what are friendships for), be their emotional support and crutch to let anything out on them, and then be their guide back into crippled normalcy. If you’re a true friend, that’s what you do, and yeah it may involve things TigerPaul considers gay like hugging, emotional support, coddling, and treating someone as a vulnerable human being. Glad to see the downvotes in that post.

I would be hard pressed to say which of my friends are my
"best friend" and there's really not a need to do it. Ranking friends does seem a bit girly.
