Good move. The smokiness of the mezcal is a nice touch.
Don't stir it though. The entire point of an OF is to have a great tasting cocktail that lets the spirit shine. Why water it down with stirring? The large ice cube is designed to make it cold without watering it down, so this is completely counterintuitive

I disagree. Stirring gives you just a little bit of chill and dilution to make the cocktail great. You only need to stir like 20 or so times (roughly 10 seconds) - not a full minute like you would for a martini for example. Stirring creates way less dilution than using a shaker.
