Fire Nikki, Hire Nell

There is a coach with strong Louisiana ties who has been a top women’s basketball coach for over 20 years. Her name isn’t Kim Mulkey-Robertson. It’s Nell Fortner. She coached the Olympic team, WNBA and multiple colleges. She has a Gold Medal, multiple conference titles at multiple schools and been named coach of the year. Tutored under Barmore and now has Georgia Tech in the Sweet 16 in only her second year. Her family is from Louisiana, with most living between BR and Jackson, MS. Make it happen Scott.

Yea there were times where women's basketball had more success than football. They used to pack the PMAC when they were relevant. When the Pokey situation happened, I knew that would be the end of women's basketball for awhile. I didnt trust that they would make the right hire and well they haven't yet. If that program got back on track, then yes it would bring back lots of revenue. There used to be a strong following for them. Sadly there's a generation of LSU students and alum that have no idea how that used to be.

WBB is the biggest money pit of all of our sports right now, but it’s doesn’t have to be such a drain if they had a good product out there. If you are forced to have a program, might as well be good at it, brings good publicity to the university and it doesn’t have to be such a big financial drain

In 2007 LSU women’s BB attendance averaged 5500.
In 2018 LSU women’s BB attendance average 2100.
In 2018 LSU women’s BB was the most deficient of all sports , losing a net of over 4 million. So what you are saying is that you rather lose 4 million a year than break even or lose less than a million. Typical Tiger Rant logic.

I could not care less about women's basketball. It is not only a waste of time and effort it is harmful to its participants.

For the billionth time, if you MUST have a program (and like it or not, we MUST have a program) and that program drains you for $4 million a year, why not try to make it desirable so that it generates revenue to the point where your total drain is only $2 or 3 million a year? Simple math says that is a $1 million windfall.

This isn't true. In our prime run where we made 5 straight Final Fours, we most certainly were.
Now in terms of this thread, this lady has a great resume on paper and I would be happy to see LSU hire if they agree, but I think it's all for naught anyway cuz I don't think Nikki gets fired, which she should.

And it won't ever. That isn't the point. See above. WBB is capable of generating SOME revenue to the point where you can offset the losses a little. Pokey proved that. If WBB can put 3-4K ticket buyers in the stands, and those people go buy concessions, then you are making money that you currently are not making. There is money to be made. It is like a resource that is going untapped.

While not a horrible idea, this will never happen and there is a simple reason for it.

Nikki was a homerun hire on paper.
It's really hard to fault the AD at the time for making that hire, although the salary given was terrible.
She's been abysmal though.
