Any Arik Gilbert news?

I heard Georgia was pushing for him, but have seemed to sign another guy. Last thing I heard was Peetz was also reaching out. Any mew developments?
Say what you will about him quitting or “opting out” (quitting in cursive) he’s a freak athlete, I’d let him battle for a starting role

I’m fine with that, just didn’t want the kid competing against us on another SEC team (nevertheless one we’d play often in Florida)

The consensus is that he will not be academically eligible at any division 1 school this coming fall. He will either have to drop down or sit out a year, he will not be competing for a starting roll if he returns.

Best of luck to him. His issues are the kind that don’t necessarily go away with time or change of scenery. This is a guy who could catch 80 balls a year and dominate the SEC and still go in the 3rd round as a high risk pick because of these issues. So I think this train has already left the station.

His only prayer to play next season is probably JUCO or come back to LSU and buckle down this summer

If it's TRUE that Peetz is going after him then who the hell is any rantard(term of endearment,
it's all love, dont wanna upset anyone's wittle feewings lol)to say no. Yes the kid quit on us for some reason last year and I dont like it, at least one teammate publicly asked him to come back. He was on pace to be the best TE ever at LSU, maybe the best ever, I'd much rather have him catching TDs up the seem for us than against us....just as anyone that's saying they would not want him back would cheer loud as hell as he was catching a 60 yard TD, He and Boutte would be pretty much impossible to stop, can't double them both and stop the run(sorry for the double post)

See that’s the thing. That is what people who have good intentions and/or desire to see LSU win like you are unintentionally glossing over. I know you want what is best for LSU and Gilberto I’m NOT criticizing you. But You don’t know what you don’t know. But there is a SPECIFIC reason here that goes beyond some butthurt LSU fan saying “ screw him” because his feelings are hurt. I actually don’t expect him to right his ship and or have a meaningful NFL career. And that is NOT a character judgement.

One of our players said Gilbert complained more than anyone he’s ever met. Also said the team feels he betrayed them (kinda obvious but yeah). I don’t think we should want him back.

If the teammates truly hated him and dont want him back I dont think the coaches would be in continual contact with him to bring him back and kept him on scholarship this semester had he wanted it. Maybe 1 or 2 guys dont like him but could probably say that about any player hating another player on the team too.

Ok....then....could you explain a little more, not being funny, it's just so vague I dont get it. Like I said, knowing of at least one teammate that publicly asked him to come back, maybe the DE, I'm not sure, can't remember, but I'm sure he knows more than we do, if his teammates want him back then who can argue with that, is part of my point. 2nd he's an absolute generational talent, he's megatron at TE....All I'm saying is if he chose to come back and his teammates wanted him then I'm perfectly fine with it

Exactly....I NEVER liked EVERY player on my teams, every player understands that, but if they can help you win then you want them on the field, bottom line.....

he likely won't end up in the SEC. if he does, he has to sit a year and i think he doesn't want to do that
