No it’s not at all. It’s hard to believe for a 25 or 30 year old but not 17-18. I gained like 50 lbs and grew about 6 or 7 inches from one year to the other and I assure you I didn’t work near as hard as this kid is and does. Most was simply genetics and age growth.

My growth spurt wasn’t subtle and it could have been because of the timing. I had started working out for 7-8 grade sports and so I was probably already working out 2.5 or 3 years when it hit me. So it’s possible that me being active at the same time as my growth spurt caused it to react more aggressively with me? I’m not sure but it was significant growth in a short time frame. Anyway, point being is that it is very possible and even more so for the kids these days with all the help they have.

Yup. I was a D1 athlete and my growth schedule looked like this:

First Day of HS - about 5'0" 110lbs

Last Day of HS - about 6'0" 155lbs

Post-freshman year of college - 175lbs

Senior year of college - 195lbs

And that weight gain certainly wasn't fat. We were lifting weights obviously but more twitchy-motion oriented stuff than bulk-adding oriented stuff like these guys are surely doing. That type of gain is definitely achievable for a 17-22 year old athlete.
