I enjoy watching ER documentaries and real life shows (trauma: life and death in the ER) about ER docs. I can’t imagine being able to do that for very long tho and not becoming so desensitized to the carnage that it doesn’t make you a little weird. Distant in the least.
Can’t imagine seeing mangled masses everyday and not becoming somewhat dehumanized.

You get used to it(but never lose compassion), every once in a while a challenging case hits home.

My wife (no pics) is an ER doc. I’ve had to learn how to navigate her bad shifts. Sometimes she just comes home and doesn’t want to talk at all. Most of the time it’s good though. No fricking way I could handle some of the things she sees. Abused and mistreated children are the worst for her. It’s weird to me someone coming in with limbs dismembered from a car wreck don’t affect her much. I would def have to have a counselor or therapist I saw on the reg.
