Maybe that’s my problem. I’m not really the sentimental type of guy. That old building doesn’t do anything for me. That particular spot on campus is prime realestate. I guess I like to see something more substantial there if possible. It having HPL’s name on it means nothing to me. It’s an inanimate object as I see it. Hopefully, I’m impressed with what the finished product and will proudly stand corrected. I hope that is the case.

That’s the kind of thinking that led to the construction of Middleton Library and Lockett Hall. You can take an old structure, bring it up to code and repurpose it very easily and economically.

Look at the Watermark Hotel in Third Street for a prime example.
Look on campus at the Cox Academic Center. They just renovated Evangeline Hall and Highland Hall and modernized those two old dorms and put in modern rooms.
