We have the horses to get it through the state Legislature....but I'd bet my bottom dollar JBE would veto it.

I don't know about that. He passed quite a few 2A bills during the "pandemic"

He might veto it but we’ll see. He’s pretty pro 2A so there’s that

Am I reading this correctly. It would not eliminate the need to go through the process to obtain a CCP for handguns, it would no longer be a punishable offense if you are found with a concealed handgun. Which would then basically eliminate the need to obtain a permit.

Or, are they trying to push through the bill indicating that all you need to do is apply for the CCP, no more classes and qualifications?

If its the later, wouldn't that contradict what's on louisianastand's site about it being unlawful to require a citizen to request gov't assistance to conceal carry?

Constitutional carry is a hot button national issue....his handlers in the national DNC won't let him pass this.

I think this is what it would do in the state....any 18 yr old non-convicted felon could carry a gun concealed regardless of if they have a permit or not.

The would still offer the permit to those that want to get it for reciprocity purposes.

I'll need to ponder this. I have soured over the years on open carry. Too many people that open carry, that I have had interactions with, are not knowledgeable of the laws. When the person cannot hark back to their civics class and know the difference between public and private I am not sure thry should be the ones open carrying

No, you don't need to ponder anything

Constitutional Carry should be the law of the land in all 50 states

The problem with open carry is too many in the general public are not aware that it is the individual's right to do so. The public's ignorance and fear does not trump someone's ability to freely practice a right.

Just do like the fed's do. Staple it to the back of something they really want to pass.

They do not know you cannot drink while open carrying or sit at a bar. A concealed carrier cannot sit at bar as well

There are still limitations and people do not know them. I'm fine with open carry if the people are knowledgeable about it. My mind changes when I see who is carrying and know they aren't saving anyone's life when they can barely run 10 yards

Your first issue is an education issue. So educate.

Second issue describes most law enforcement.

You cannot hinder the rights of many because of your issues with few. The greater good is an armed society as the 2nd amendment implies. Criminals don't care about your issues yet you nitpick the law abiding. If someone breaks the law then we deal with that someone.

Let's get this passed so my wheelchair bound wife can legally carry while she totes around my 2yr old in Shreveport.

I'm all for education. Rhe most efficient way that has been brought up is classes before you are allowed to carry which would be considered an infringement

I am all for education too, but I'm not for that word 'allowed'. And it is absolutely an infringement. Maybe you and I could host free educational courses for our communities. I do know there are a ton of videos from the 2A community that popped up during last years surge of new gun buyers that were solely to educate.

But constitutional carry in every state is a must. We don't limit any other right this way.
