t would not eliminate the need to go through the process to obtain a CCP for handguns, it would no longer be a punishable offense if you are found with a concealed handgun. Which would then basically eliminate the need to obtain a permit.

We have it here. No need for CCP. Just strap it to your side and go grocery shopping.

Am I reading this correctly. It would not eliminate the need to go through the process to obtain a CCP for handguns, it would no longer be a punishable offense if you are found with a concealed handgun. Which would then basically eliminate the need to obtain a permit. Or, are they trying to push through the bill indicating that all you need to do is apply for the CCP, no more classes and qualifications? If its the later, wouldn't that contradict what's on louisianastand's site about it being unlawful to require a citizen to request gov't assistance to conceal carry?
Will make it legal for residents of Louisiana to carry concealed within Louisiana without the need of a CCP if one is legally able to open carry/possess a firearm otherwise.

The CCP process will remain in place for those that want a CCP for concealed carry in other reciprocating states, etc. McCormick explained this on KEEL radio in Shreveport Monday (2/22).

They do not know you cannot drink while open carrying or sit at a bar. A concealed carrier cannot sit at bar as well

I believe DWI breathalyzer level/limit is cut in half for card holders as well.

There are still limitations and people do not know them. I'm fine with open carry if the people are knowledgeable about it. My mind changes when I see who is carrying and know they aren't saving anyone's life when they can barely run 10 yards

Good point, we should not allow disabled people to carry firearms because they can't run 10 yards

You're trying very hard to sound like you know what you're talking about but failing miserably

Id like to see a positive incentive associated with completing courses. Tax breaks, discounts, whatever. It isnt something I have thought further about but it blows my mind how people cannot give on a class that can be completed on a Saturday. Is it infringement, sure. Ill give uona few hours on a Saturday for more educated firearm owners. I do not see much of a slippery slope there.

I agree. Let's get this through the state asap. I think incentives might work but it should definately be a separate thing from this return of our right.

Time and costs cant be a requirement. I like the idea of a single mom, wanting to protect her and her kids, have the ability to walk into a FFL pick a gun, pass the background, walk out into public and carry.

It isn't someone's job or responsibility to save another person's life merely because they are CC'ing.

Bump for awareness on the Constitutional Carry. Let's get it passed this year and get going in 2A sanctuary status. About to get it going in Caddo
