It's really good. I'm from that area and already knew most of the history, but still enjoyed it very much. This was the guy's first documentary, and he did very well. I thought there was more that he could have covered, but it's still great.
Whenever I put a new song together that seems like it might have some commercial appeal, I give Fame the first listen.

Yes, have a signed copy by Jimmie Johnson, David Hood and Roger Hawkins.

You were lucky to get Jimmy to sign it. He died pretty soon after it came out.

Yes, I've been to the studio several times. My wife is from the area--Town Creek. Last time I was there was in 2017 and at that time I actually bumped into David Hood's wife.

I'm going up there next week. I grew up east of Decatur and lived in the area until 17 years ago, I've been dropping demos off over there for a long time, even back when MCA studio was still open over there. That was an impressive place to go to. The whole lobby and hallway were lined with gold and platinum albums and records, and it was located right on the river bank and had it's own little park and walk down by the river. I never did go to the Jackson highway studio though. I think they are making that a museum?

Back in '14 or so the rumor was that Dre was going to take some of his billions from Apple and turn it into a fully functioning studio again, with both original-era tape machines and state-of-the-art digital gear. Unfortunately it never came to fruition.

Knew a gal who was their marketing person when they were trying to put that all together, lost her job when it fell through. Sadly I heard she passed away sometime last year.

I just watched it. I knew of Muscles Shoals, mainly as being related to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Allman Bros, but I really didn't know anything about it. I was blown away at all the music that came from there. It should be a musical tourist mecca.

FYI, I just caught this documentary on the free Pluto app. Keep an eye out for it if you’re interested. It’s a good watch.

It's free on youtube now with some ads. Here's a link. I watched it again last night
